Before I went to the Gocta Waterfall near Chachapoyas, I had no idea how impressive a waterfall can be. This is now one of my favorite walks and sites in the area. The trail starts out form the village of Cocachimba passing by fields of yucca, sugar cane and pineapples and leads to the cloud forest that surrounds the waterfall. In the cloud forest there are chances of seeing yellow-tailed woolly and Andean Night monkeys as well as the cock-of-the-rock.
The trail leads right to the base of the main fall. The amount of water coming down varies considerably, but it is never dry. Standing the in the spray looking up 540m is an awesome experience.
We have two tours to Gocta Waterfall, and of course you will see some of the other highlights - Kuelap, Revash, Karajia - of the Chachapoyas area as well.
As always our tours can be changed to suit you
6 Day Chachapoyas and Gocta Wonder
The tour starts in Chiclayo and takes you to Gocta Waterfall and the main sites in the Chachapoyas area - Kuelap, Karajia, Revash and the Mummy Museum of Leymebamba. We leave the Chachapoyas area by one of the most spectacular roads in Peru - namely the road between Leymebamba and Cajamarca, via the Marañon Canyon.
7 Day Chachapoyas and Gocta Wonder
As for the 6 Day tour plus an extra day walking the inca trail from Levanto to Chachapoyas.
